AUTHOR'S NOTES:
Along with Bahgtru The Orc Warrior, Gunthar is always a safe bet and I usually keep him throughout the entire game. Why? His thrown attribute is so valuable. It basically gives him two attacks per turn -- a thrown and a melee attack.
For the most part Bahgtru and Gunthar are basically the same. However, Bahgtru's random fighter pick makes his value a little unpredictable. Gunthar, on the other hand, always gets the Might skill so he is a sure thing. Give him a +6 enchanted axe, and at Demi-God level he will have thrown attacks of 20 followed by melee attacks around 40! (with enchantments like Giant Strength and other magical items which boost his attack strength.)
I strongly recommend Gunthar The Barbarian to anyone.
